Rome's typical pine tree near the Campidoglio

Piazza Giovanni da Priora, Garbatella, Rome. This is a very nice building from the twenties. That was a bakery in the front door, later it became a bar and now it's famous because of various TV settings done in the 00's.

Beautiful temple angle at the Fori Imperiali.

Composite capital at the Fori Imperiali (Imperial Forum).

An "edicola", typical Madonna worship stand in Rome. There are dozens of them along the city's ways. This one is near my house in the Garbatella neighborhood.

S. Maria del Loreto near the Trajan Column. This belry was called "la gabbia dei grilli" (the cricket's cage) at the time it was built (1580).

Old widows walking ubder the hot sun of south Italy. It was common for older women to keep using mourning black dresses for the rest of their lives, after their husband's death.

Tropea seen from the south. Old buildings face the Mediterranean sea underneath.

Museo Archeologico in Vibo Valentia, Calabria. This is a massive and imposing mediaeval fortress now fully restored.

Calabrian clouds above me...

Olive trees at Zambrone. Olive oil is one of the treasures of italian kitchen.

Sunset seen from Priscopio (Zambrone). In this time of the year (first days of september) the sun sets nearer and nearer behind the Stroboli vulcan.
This vulcan is about 60 miles offshore from Zambrone and can be seen only on clear days. It was immortalized by Victor Hugo in his famous romance "voyage to the center of the Earth".

On september first at sunset the sun is almost behind the Stromboli's mouth.
